In the summer of 1959 this F-106A of the 539th Fighter Interceptor Squadron descends at sundown high over New Jersey.

In the summer of 1959 the Delta Dart had just entered service with the USAF, and the 539th FIS at McGuire AFB was responsible for Category III flight tests in conjunction with Air Defense Command’s interceptor and missile school at Tyndall AFB, FL. Here the fighter pilot is in his element….Fighter Pilot Heaven. *
