Corporate Models And Slide Collection

Books, airplanes, memorabilia, slide files, projector and file cabinets on the north wall. The corporate models on top of the bookcase are aircraft flown by the artist on Air Force and Navy assignments.

Hand Carved Pine Recognition Models

This very rare collection of recognition models was hand carved by the artist in shop class in the early '40s.

This Spartan Executive Model of "Miss Mennen" was build by Kieth Ferris for his friend George Mennen, President and CEO of the Mennen Corporation for his 50th Anniversary of his company.  NC13993 is the second production aircraft of just 34 built, and is the only example with a field installed control stick instead of a control wheel. It was used extensively for factory flight-testing. George Mennen used to spray aftershave into the exhaust when he flew, to help advertise his products.

Keith built this aluminum model of one of his favorite WW II aircraft, the ME 109 for his personal collection in the late 1960s.  Everything works, the canopy opens, the window slides, the stick moves as do the foot peddles, flaps and rudder.  The landing gear retracts and the shock absorbers work as does the tail wheel.  You can see the hand carved wooden blocks Keith had to carve so he could pound out the aluminum of the cowling.
