Canvas Print Size: 24″ x 14″

Rolling Thunder was the code name for the first American air offensive against North Vietnam, involving almost every combat aircraft type flown by the Navy and Air Force. Seventy-five percent of Air Force missions over the North were flown by the F-105 Thunderchief. These aircraft and their crews faced the heaviest anti-aircraft defenses in the history of aerial warfare. Taxiing out of Spot 28 at Korat, in F-105D 61-093 “Honey Babe”, is my friend Major George Avila, veteran of 100 missions over North Vietnam and the last F-105 pilot in 469th Tactical Fighter Squadron before it became the first operational F-4E squadron. Rolling Thunder represents the 388th Wing effort in the Ferris trio of paintings created in 1969 for Republic Aircraft.
