The F-35A incorporates very low observable stealth technology into an advanced Airframe with a clean design that enables supersonic flight and unmatched agility. Hill Air Force Base is the primary location for F-35 operations with the active duty 388th Fighter Wing and the reserve 419th Fighter Wing, the Air Force’s first combat-capable F-35A units.

F-35 pilots from Hill AFB conduct training operations, including air-to-ground and air-to-air combat simulations and weapons testing, at the Utah Test & Training Range, UTTR which is located in Utah’s West Desert, approximately 80 miles west of Salt Lake City, and offers the largest contiguous overland supersonic-authorized restricted airspace in the contiguous United States.
