J-3 Cub, Introduction to Flight
Original Painting by Keith Ferris
18″ x 24″ Oil on panel, professionally framed

Thousands of J-3 Cub aircraft were built by the Piper Aircraft Corporation between 1938 and 1948.  The legendary J-3 Cub, built by Piper Aircraft Corporation in the thousands between 1938 and 1948, was so well known that to the general public, all light planes were “Piper Cubs”. It is claimed that four out of five U.S. pilots in World War II and civilian pilots immediately thereafter received their initial flight training in the Cub. The painting was inspired by the artist’s first solo in this Cub in1953. *
