Capt Toby Hughes maneuvers his F4 Phantom in the darkness to deliver his payload of napalm to provide cover for the Manchu Regiment of the Ninth Infantry regiment. The primary job of the Manchu was to operate in the Boi Loi wood’s or the mangrove swamps of Ben Luc.  Both the pilot and his EWO were awarded the Silver Star for this mission saving many American lives this day.

Many years later the artist and pilot were doing a Dinning In event together telling the story when a person in the audience came up, took off his Manchu belt buckle handing it to Toby, he was one of those soldiers who survived that evening because of Toby’s courage and flying skills.
